Red Notice is about a thief named Nolan Booth, played by Ryan Reynolds, who is trying to find all three of Cleopatra’s eggs; he soon discovers that he is not alone in the hunt. Bishop, played by Gal Gadot, introduces herself to him and soon becomes a competitor within this treasure hunt. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson plays profiler agent Hartley who is working with Interpol Inspector Unvashi Das played by Ritu Arya to stop Booth from stealing the egg. Booth gets away from Hartley and Das and later is captured with the egg and sent to a Russian prison. Later, Inspector Das finds out that the egg was switched, and that Agent Hartley may have been involved. Hartley and Booth end up at the same Russian prison where Bishop bribes the captain in charge of the prison, propositions Booth and Hartley into helping her find the third Cleopatra egg. She already has two of them and needs to find the last one to collect three hundred million dollars for all three eggs for an Egyptian billionaire’s daughters ‘wedding.

Red Notice represents the highest level of an arrest warrant from Interpol. Booth tried to bond with a reluctant Hartley who just wants to find the third egg to arrest them both and clear his name. There is a lot of action and fight scenes in this movie, which is to be expected when your main actors are all action stars. One of the first chase scenes between Hartley and Booth involve Booth driving a scooter and Hartley getting in a Porsche as the Beastie Boys “Sabotage” plays and then bam, Hartley drives half a block before a van run into him. Later in the movie, there’s a big fight scene and when Bishop fights, it reminds me of fight scenes in Wonder Woman. Towards the end of the movie, there is a chase scene that’s reminiscent of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
Red Notice does throw you off its track of the twist in the plot very well. You root for Booth and Hartley, but it always seems like Bishop is one step ahead of them and Inspector Das follows them all to arrest them. The film is a Catch Me If You Can, Cat and Mouse type of movie. Reynolds once again shines with his funny quips and Johnson plays the straight man and reluctant hero. Gadot is good as well. The plot is a little farfetched, but the cast makes due with what they have, and they have fun with this movie. Red Notice is a nice Saturday night movie that, for me, is more enjoyable at home than in the theater.
