The Avengers Campus Virtual Tour

Source: Disney Parks Youtube

I was amongst 3000 people who were able to get the virtual tour of the new Avengers Campus which will open on June 4th. We were then greeted by F.R.I.D.A.Y., an AI sent by Tony Stark to give us the virtual tour of the campus. The tour began with Michael Serna, the Creative Director of Live Entertainment, Scott Drake and Brent Strong who all played a big part in the development of the Avengers Campus.

Dan Fields showed us the WEB (Worldwide Engineering Brigade) where you can see how Peter Parker developed his Spider Bots. The ride here is called Web Slingers where you try and help Spiderman stop the Spider Bots from taking over the campus. This will be a fun ride as you look through 3D glasses shooting webs to stop the Spider Bots. From there, you can go to Web Open House to create your own Spider Bot which looks to be cool.

One of the coolest interactive sites is the Ancient Sanctum, this is where you can explore the ruins of the Ancient Sanctum with a 360 view and encounter the Master of the Mystic Arts, Doctor Strange himself. Of course, there is the Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: Breakout and in the middle of the campus you may encounter Okoye and the Dora Milaje and have a dance party with some of the characters. Whew, I’m already tired.

Now we go to the Pym Test Kitchen where you can get a Big Pretzel, not so Little Chicken Sandwich with a huge piece chicken and a little bun and an Impossible Spoonful which has a plant-based meatball that is huge but a tiny fork. They also have drinks that look like they came from the lab. I’m sure this will be a fun place to eat. Oh, and they have two Shawarma carts inspired by end credit scene in the first Avengers movie.

The official opening had Chairman Josh D’Amaro giving opening remarks, CEO Bob Chapek giving remarks about reopening Disneyland and how the Avengers Campus at California Adventure is the first one in the world. Of course, the man himself, Kevin Feige discussed the Avengers Campus and how the QuinJet being displayed is real and not CGI. Feige also gave props to the comic book creators who enabled this to become a reality. Paul Rudd came out and discussed the PYM Test Kitchen and introduced a video that had Zoe Saldana, Scarlett Johannsen, Mark Ruffalo, Danai Guira, Paul Bettany and Brie Larsen welcoming everyone. Jon Favreau then introduced the original Iron Man, the Mark 80.

After that, most of the Avengers came out on the second floor of the where the heroic encounters will be. What would the Avengers be without Captain America? Anthony Mackie came out and handed the shield over to his campus doppelganger. Then with that, there was an amazing firework display, and the Avengers Campus is officially open! What would Marvel be without an after credit? This was no different. Simu Liu was seen getting a wrap from the Shawarma cart.

Now for the Extras: There’s an old map of the campus, Hulk Size trees, the menu at the Pym Kitchen is Scott Lang’s enlarged cell phone and if you watch closely, you may get a text message. All of us online were treated to all the Marvel music from the movies and tv shows from DJ PZB, Trivia, and of course the Red Carpet which I was happy to be a part of. Are you tired like me? This Campus looks to be amazing. Be sure to download the Disneyland app because it will be important.
