Girl Code and Porsha Williams

Source: Google Images/MTV

The last few days Twitter and the blogosphere has been a tizzy over Porsha Williams of The Real Housewives of Atlanta and her new Fiancé Simon Guobadia and saying that Porsha broke girl code because his soon to be ex-wife Falynn appeared on the show.

Why do we care? Well, if you ever watched The Maury Show, Divorce Court or the oldie but goodie, The Jerry Springer shows seeing girl code being broken has been normalized with these shows for years. I think the reason why this situation blew up is that we have followed Porsha Williams from her divorce to Cordell to the birth of her child. Porsha’s relationships have always been fast and furious, and nothing is wrong with that, but there were always rumblings and insuations made by prior co- workers on the Real Housewives of alleged potential girl code violations in the past, but there was never any proof.

Does it matter that, according to Simon, allegedly the reason that he and Falynn are divorcing is because she cheated on him? Why is it that the question that hasn’t been asked is did Simon go after Porsha or did Porsha go after Simon allegedly? If Simon went after Porsha, isn’t he breaking bro code since he was friends with Porsha's daughter’s father Dennis? Would he be attacked as hard as Porsha if he were more well-known? Porsha broke the news, so therefore she took the heat.

Truth be told, there are so many stories of Girl Code being broken by famous and regular people. The only reason this is part of the discussion is because of who and what Porsha Williams is and does. At the end of the day, if they’re happy and no drama, then we don’t care. We shall see when season 14 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta rolls around to see how this all plays out on the show. If so, then this upcoming season will be better than season 13.

Did this story get you interested in Season 14 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta? Have you broken girl code or known someone who has? Let’s discuss.
