Lebron James enters the athlete/ movie realm with Space Jam: A New Legacy. Lebron is not the first athlete to star in his own movie. You can go back to Dr. J when he starred in A Fish the Save Pittsburg and Shaquille O’Neal’s movies like Kazaam and Steel amongst others but how can we forget the man who starred in the original Space Jam, Michael Jordan. There is bound to be comparisons between the original Space Jam and the new one. This one is fun and lighthearted with this one giving you the message of family and that your children are individuals. The first Space Jam plot was more for fun and to help the toons.

Space Jam: A New Legacy tells the story of Lebron James and his family, especially his son Dom who is more interested in computers and developing video games than he is the sport of basketball. There is this conflict between father and son that drives the story. A meeting that Lebron has at Warner Brothers, which he brings his son to, takes a turn when Al-G Rhythm played by Don Cheadle is offended by Lebron’s comments but impressed by Dom’s computer knowledge. Al-G Rhythm’s ego takes over and pulls LeBron and Dom into the Server verse. We soon see all our Warner Brother favorite cartoons like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Grandma and Tweedy Bird and of course Lola Bunny voiced by Zendaya. The Goon stars this time around are played by Damian Lillard, Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson, Diana Taurasi and Nneka Ogwumike.

Space Jam: A New Legacy is a fun family film which overlooking Lebron James limited acting it’s still an enjoyable movie. Don Cheadle as Al-G Rhythm is fun and campy villain in this movie. The actor who plays Dom, Lebron’s son is played by actor Cedric Joe who really helped Lebron along. There were some great cameos in this movie and those cameos really added to the movie. This movie is a good afternoon movie day for kids up to age 11 anything higher than that then HBO MAX is best to watch. Its shot beautifully so that would justify watching in a theater. Low key this is also a big commercial for Warner Brothers. Overall, it’s a cool family movie that has some good jokes and one liner by the toons and they even manage to pay homage to the first Space Jam and Michael Jordan.

Will you be watching Space Jam: A New Legacy? Did you watch in a theater or at home? Let’s discuss.
