The Conjuring franchise is back! Lorraine played by Vera Farmiga and Ed Warren played by Patrick Wilson are back on the case. The Warren’s are back to help a family to document an exorcism that involves family members: an 8-year-old named David Glatzel played by Julian Hilliard. Arnie, who is played by Ruiari O’Conner, is the boyfriend of David’s sister Debbie, played by Sarah Catherine Hook who is also there to help David. A series of events ensues, and a murder occurs, of which, Arnie is being accused of doing.

This case is known to be the first to use demonic possession as a defense in America.

The other Conjuring movies had me on the edge of my seat because of the numerous jump scares, this one not so much. This Conjuring movie is more story driven and has a love conquers all theme. We do get a little back story on the love between the Warren’s which, as we learn during the movie is especially important. Love also helps Arnie and Debbie. Debbie stands by Arnie through everything. That’s love. The song “Call Me” by Blondie is used very well in the movie. I will say that if you’re familiar with actor John Noble who plays Kastner, then you’re in for a treat.

Overall, if you’re into the Conjuring movies, this one stays on theme like the others, but with less jump scares than its predecessors. There are scenes that remind you of the movie The Exorcist. The story and acting will keep you interested enough to stay to see how the story will end. We also want to know if Arnie will be found guilty.

Have you watched the previous Conjuring movies? How does this one compare to the others? Lets discuss!
