Sandra Bullock plays Loretta Sage who writes romance novels and Channing Tatum who plays Alan, who is better known as Dash, the cover model for all her books. We find Loretta lonely and uninspired, due to the loss of her husband, who was an archeologist. Loretta’s publicist Beth, played by Da’vine Joy Randolph, has Loretta and Alan on a book tour which Loretta is not happy about. Loretta decides she has had enough of Alan and the crowd wanting him to take off his shirt, instead of listening to her talk about her book. Loretta is kidnapped by Abigail Fairfax, played by Daniel Radcliffe, whose an eccentric billionaire who is on a mission to find a lost treasure that Lorretta and her husband were close to finding. Alan sees Loretta being kidnapped and follows. Alan has a friend, Jack Trainer, played by Brad Pitt, who is a former Navy Seal who enlists him to help them find Lorretta.

The Lost City has many moments that are hilarious. The chemistry of all the main players, Bullock, Tatum, Radcliffe, and Pitt were fantastic. The plot is thin but the acting more than makes up for it. The love story is very believable and sweet. The evolution of Loretta going from a recluse to confident explorer was fascinating, as well as Alan showing Loretta that he is more than just a pretty face and body. Brad Pitt was hilarious in this movie. I really like when Brad Pitt does comedy, his dry approach to situations always pays off. He is not in the movie very much, but his performance does stand out. Daniel Radcliffe was so good as a bad guy. His take on being a bratty, billionaire that can have anything was spot on. I got to mention that I enjoyed the scenes with Beth (Da’vine Joy Randolph) and Oscar (played by Oscar Nunez) who plays an eccentric cargo pilot, and his best friend is a goat named Randy. Their scenes together were comedy gold.

The Lost City is an enjoyable, comedic rom- com that you will enjoy. The action starts quick, so it doesn’t drag to get to the point. There are many laugh out loud funny moments and a few moments that drag but that doesn’t last long because then the action picks right up. Special mention goes to one of my favorite SNL (Saturday Night Live) cast member Bowen Yang for his brief and funny cameo in the film.
