The Traitors – US An edge of your seat Game Show
The Traitors is a reality game show that is based off the original in the UK. Aren’t most game shows nowadays based off of other countries’ games shows? This one is really intriguing. It’s like The Mole and The Challenge had a baby and birthed The Traitors. The Traitors game show is 20 people who try to figure out who the Traitors are in the group. If they vote all the Traitors out, then at the end the remaining contestants split the money. If they don’t get all the traitors out, then the traitors win. Easy, right?

The cast is: Cirie Fields (Survivor Panama), Andie Vanacore (Music Service Director), Quentin Jiles (Political Analyst), Arie Luyendyk Jr (The Bachelor 8), Kate Chastain (Below Deck), Christian de la Torre (Veteran), Stephanie LaGrossa (Survivor Palau), Rachel Reilly (Big Brother 12), Shelbe Rodriguez (Public Affairs Manager), Anjelica Conti (Hair Stylist), Cody Calafiore (Big Brother 16), Amanda Clark-Stoner (Emergency Room Nurse), Kyle Cooke (Summer House), Ryan Lochte (Olympic Swimmer), Michael Davidson (DMV Office Manager), Azra Valani (Yoga Instructor), Brandi Glanville (Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), Robert “Bam” Nieves (Tech Sales Executive), Geraldine Moreno (Actress), and Reza Farahan (Shahs of Sunset).
The competition is fierce, and the lies and deceit start early. We, the audience, know who the Traitors are but it’s so interesting for us to watch the cast try and figure who the Traitors are, while also trying to earn money. It’s in the best interest of the Traitors to help earn money during the team competitions because if they are able to keep themselves hidden then they can take home $250,000. Each competition is where the contestants earn money and observe their teammates to see if they are displaying any traitor qualities. Later, after the competition is complete and they find out how much money they earned they all come to a round table where they discuss who the Traitor could possibly be.
The conversations and accusations that come at the round table are so good. What makes it interesting is how people come to figure out who the Traitor is and manage to convince a majority of players that who they say is the Traitor is the Traitor. We soon see the cliques and how the Traitors are manipulating the rest of the players to keep themselves safe. Once a vote has been done and the player has been accused of being a Traitor, they are banished. Then, they let the players know if they are a Traitor or a Faithful. Later, The Traitors go to a tower and meet to see who they will “Murder”. At breakfast the next morning is when the players learn who did not make it through the night.
This season is full of twists and turns and great personalities. The main ones to watch are Brandi Glanville, Kate Chastain, Cirie Fields, Rachel Reilly, Cody Calafiore and Christian de la Tore. These were the main personalities that stood out but the cast as a whole are great. By the time we get to the finale , we are all personally invested in the players and their quest to win.
The Traitors is now streaming on Peacock and is one of the great reality game shows that pulls in the home audience. We root for the players and the Traitors. Alan Cumming as a host brings the intrigue, fun and camp to the show. I really hope they do another season with another great mix of celebrities and regular people, even though some of these lesser known players are known on social media. The Traitors is a great concept and this season showed that it’s a fun watch for the audience.
