True Story is a series starring Kevin Hart as The Kid and Wesley Snipes as his brother Carlton. The Kid is a famous comedian and actor is beloved by all and is on the rise. Carlton, Kid’s brother has travelled a different road and most people around Kid don’t trust him because he always needs something, especially money from The Kid. The Kid surrounds himself with his small circle, which includes his agent Todd (Paul Adelstein), his writer Billie (Tawny Newsome) and his bodyguard Herschel (William Catlett) who all try to keep him focused and keep an eye on Carlton. The Kid also focuses on his pending divorce from his wife (Lauren London) who he still calls his best friend and his son.

After a successful performance in his hometown of Philadelphia. The Kid spends time together and then wakes up with a dead woman besides him. He calls his brother Carlton to assist and then all the twists and turns begins. While trying to cover up this murder, his brother gets Kid involved with gangster Ari (Billy Zane) and now is indebted to him. The Kid is now upset that things have spiraled out of control and goes off on his biggest fan Gene (Theo Rossi) which causes even more chaos in his life.
As The Kid and Carlton try to figure out how to get out of this mess. Todd and Herschel begin to suspect that Carlton has The Kid into something. The twists and turns of the series and the ending is a jaw dropper.
True Story is a great series and Kevin Hart and Wesley Snipes shine in this vehicle. This is a must see. It’s a compelling look at how one decision and the toxic people in your life can turn your world upside down. Whether you're famous or just a regular person we can all relate to that one family that means well but can’t help mess things up but you’re the one that ends up with the bad end of the stick. True Story is a cautionary tale of what you would do to save all that you work for and keep anyone, including family for taking it away.
