ABC released teasers of four upcoming shows:

Women of the Movement about the story of the Mother of Emmitt Till who risked her life in 1955 to bring her son’s killers to justice. This drama is sure to pull at the heartstrings and give a look into her story which we have rarely heard or discussed. I’m sure it must’ve been hard to get anyone to listen, but her actions helped begin the Civil Rights movement.

Queens is about four women in their 40’s who get a second chance of fame. This show brings the star power of Eve, Brandy, Naturi Naughton and Nadine Velazquez. If nothing else the music should be good and hopefully the story will be strong and take a new spin on girl groups who have broken up and got back together only to break up again.

The Wonder Years reboot is one I’m looking forward too. I loved the original so much and from the teaser it looks like they will recapture the innocence of the original with a different spin of a coming-of-age story of a black middle-class family in the South. This is already intriguing because normally when we think of the South, we think of pain, suffering and poor conditions. This take will give us a view of a family just being a family that endures everyday family things from the perspective of a 12-year-old who is voiced by Don Cheadle.

Maggie is a comedy that follows a young woman trying to cope with life as a psychic. From the teaser it is giving me a That’s so Raven grown up vibes but to the extreme because it was rare that Raven would see her own future. Hopefully, there is some originality to this show and not a Raven knock off. The title character is very charismatic so we shall see if that helps that show.

Finally, Abbott Elementary is a workplace comedy set in a school in what looks like an inner-city environment, starring Quinta Brunson (from Buzzfeed and A Black Lady Sketch Show), looks like it will be very funny. The teaser had me laughing out loud. Of all the teasers that ABC put out, this was the one that got me excited. Mainly because of Quinta Brunson. but also, the other cast members like Tyler James Williams (from Everyone Hates Chris), and the great Sheryl Lee Ralph (Moesha) and the chemistry they already have just from the teaser. I am truly looking forward to seeing this show and I’m already all in. It’s rare that a teaser can pull you in quick and this one did.
Which new ABC show are you looking forward to watching? Did you watch the teasers? Let’s discuss.
